Jobs of the future in AR

Jobs of the future in AR

Experts highlight that while choosing a career path, it is necessary to look at its relevance 10-15 years ahead. According to scientists, by 2035, two billion jobs will disappear in the world, and with them most professions will go into the past. Digitalization will affect every field of activity and therefore the demand for specialists in the IT industry will only grow. Augmented and virtual reality will become commonplace in the workflow. Today it is possible to master specialties in the field of AR and VR, which will be in demand in the future.

Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that complements the real world with three-dimensional images. When pointing the camera of a mobile device at an object with augmented reality, the user sees a controlled 3D object with animation or video. Augmented reality is developed in apps and used on mobile devices or AR glasses. Virtual reality (VR) is a unique technology that allows the user to immerse themselves in an artificial three-dimensional environment and interact with it using controllers.

Concept Artist

The task of a specialist is to develop a design for an object, character, location, or non-existent area of space. Knowledge of different styles, knowledge of professional programs, skills in creating sketches by hand and on a tablet come in handy. Sketches set the overall visual picture of the project and serve as the basis for recreation in 3D models. A concept artist needs to have a creative flair and be able to adapt to changing requirements throughout the project.

AR designer

The main focus is creating materials for AR animations and being responsible for the graphic part, design and visualisation of ideas for the project. An augmented reality designer must be fluent in application programs for creating virtual world objects and have programming skills.

UI/UX designer

UX designer creates UX diagrams that show how the windows and buttons of a mobile app interact and relate to each other. He finds the most optimal, convenient and understandable solution for the user, and also creates a prototype of the future application – interactive transitions between windows, the location of buttons and elements on the screens. UI designer creates an initial look of the future mobile application. This is not the final design yet, but only the selection of the main colour scheme, style and shapes. After approval, the UI designer creates the UI design for the final look of the application and prepares it for submission to programmers.

Illustrator

Responsible for drawing complex application elements (logos, icons, scenes, characters, backgrounds). Makes visualisation of graphic parts, locations, characters, sketches.

3D modeller

Based on sketches or illustrations, 3D modeller creates ready-made textured models in 3D format and 3D scenes on which animation unfolds. He must also be able to sculpt – create three-dimensional forms using special tools. This method is similar to how a sculptor works with clay or stone. Sculpting can be used to model objects of any complexity.

3D animator

A 3D graphics specialist who is responsible for preparing the 3D model and location for animations, ensures the movement of the drawn models and objects. The animator must have a good imagination, observation ability to be able to show the emotions and qualities of the character to the user. Once the animations are completed and approved, the 3D animator must be able to properly hand them off to the programmers so that the scenes work properly in the built application.

Programmer (developer)

Creates a mobile application, forms its optimal architecture, so that when the project changes or expands, the functioning of its entire system is preserved. Writes and works on special effects. Upon completion, all previously created – 3D models, animations, special effects, interactivity must be assembled into one effectively working scheme. The programmer must improve the application to accommodate all updates.

You can learn any job in the AR segment at special courses. Many AR specialists are self-taught. But even with experience in this field, it is necessary to constantly improve skills and learn new tricks. Big Dream Lab conducts free 3D modeling workshops for schoolchildren and students. As a company, it is important for us to support the development of this IT segment. We believe that our practical training to beginner modelers is one of the most effective ways of learning.
